After the past few months, like everyone else, this was a well needed holiday.
When the government changed the rules for travel to Lanzarote (with no need quarantine needed on return), we jumped at the chance to get away. As my husband and I had been fully vaccinated and our son was under 12 we did not have to take a test prior to travel. We did need to order tests to do in resort and on day 2 on return. This was straight forward and arrived in time to take with us on holiday. We also completed the Spanish authorisation travel form before we travelled, which again was straight forward and we printed a copy to take it with us.
The airport was extremely well organised and we had no problems at all and experienced no queuing like the media are stating. Our covid status was checked and on arrival into Lanzarote we showed our Spanish travel authorization form and all was fine and our holiday began.
We stayed at the Holiday village in Playa Blanca. We chose this hotel as it had lots of activities to keep my 9 year old boy entertained. There was a football academy, basketball, tennis courts, high ropes climbing frame, lots of water activities and interactive pool games. This was all amazing and all the staff couldn’t do enough to help.
The food was lovely with lots to choose from and there were themed nights – Mexico, Chinese and Italian – I can certainly recommend the pizza, – it was delicious.
The Holiday Village hotel is a short 5 minute walk to the beach, which was really child friendly, as it was man-made and not rocky at all, only soft golden sand under our toes. A little further along the promenade was the town of Playa Blanca. It is a 15-20 minute walk from the hotel but if you didn’t want to walk, the bus went past every half an hour and was about 1.5 Euros. We ate out a few times in Playa Blanca and I would definitely recommend two restaurants – Playa Blanca and the New Oriental Asiatico. Both these restaurants had an amazing selection to choose from, great service and delicious food. They were really happy to have tourists back on the island and they couldn’t do enough to help you.
Another bonus regarding the location of the hotel was that there was a small water park called Aqualava over the road. A little tip is that you can get admission for half price for the last few hours of the day. We did this a couple of time, which worked really well and my son and husband managed all the water slides within this time.
All in all, I would recommend the Holiday Village for anyone with children and the resort of Playa Blanca to everyone all ages, nice and small with a good selection of bars and restaurants. Very happy that we finally had a sunny holiday!
