Sardinia – The Jewel of the Mediterranean

"In April, I had the incredible opportunity to visit Sardinia with Travelsphere and Just Go Holidays a destination I’ve always dreamed of exploring. And trust me, it did not disappoint. Our group of 10 travel agents and our brilliant hosts, Jasmine and Cathy from Travelsphere met at Gatwick Airport on Saturday, 26th April. There was a real buzz in the air as we boarded our EasyJet flight to Olbia, the gateway to Sardinia.

There, we were greeted by the wonderful Aideen, our local guide, who welcomed us with open arms and plenty of Sardinian charm. She instantly put us at ease and gave us a glimpse into the incredible week ahead. We made our way to the Hotel Rocce Sarde, our hillside home for the trip, with sweeping views of the glittering sea and lush landscape. That first evening, over delicious local food and wine, we all got to know each other. Spirits were high, and it was clear we were in for something special.

Day 1 – The Emerald Coast:

We kicked off with a journey along the Emerald Coast, a stretch of paradise famous for its beaches and James Bond-worthy beauty. Seriously, there’s a beach where 007 drove a car straight out of the sea!

In Porto Cervo, the marina dazzled with sleek yachts and seaside charm. We took a quirky noddy train tour, which was a fun way to see the town.

Day 2– Medieval Alghero & Wine:

Off to the enchanting town of Alghero, where cobbled streets, Gothic cathedrals, and historic churches filled our morning.

A vineyard visit in the afternoon gave us a true taste of Sardinia think wine, local delicacies, and that warm Italian hospitality. Needless to say, the bus ride home was very relaxed!

Day 3 – Palau & Capo D’Orso:

We visited Capo D’Orso, known for its unique bear-shaped rock formation and panoramic views. Whether we hiked or took the bus up, the scenery was jaw-dropping.

That evening was a standout: a traditional Sardinian dinner in a local home. From hearty food to genuine hospitality, it was a beautiful cultural experience.

Day 4 – Exploring Olbia:

Olbia charmed us with its quaint streets, granite churches, boutique shops, and friendly cafés. We wrapped the day with a mouth-watering Sardinian lunch in a cosy family-run restaurant. Bellissimo!

Day 5 – La Maddalena Boat Trip:

A boat trip to La Maddalena? Yes, please! Crystal-clear waters, postcard-perfect views, a relaxing stroll through the town, and even a swim in the Mediterranean. Pure bliss.

Day 6 – Leisure Day:

Time to unwind! Some explored nearby villages, others chilled by the pool. A chance to soak it all in before the final day.

Day 7 – Farewell, Sardinia:

With full hearts and lots of memories, we said our goodbyes especially to Aideen, who brought Sardinia to life with her warmth, humour, and endless local knowledge.

💬 Final Thoughts...

Sardinia is more than a destination it’s a feeling. From its sun-drenched beaches to its rich culture and warm people, I know I’ll be back.

To Jasmine, Cathy, Aideen, and all my fellow travellers thank you for making this such a magical journey.
